PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI)

Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding & Horsemanship (CTRH) is seeking a passionate and experienced PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) to join our team. The CTRI will provide safe, engaging, and effective therapeutic and recreational riding instruction to individuals with disabilities while following PATH Intl. standards and CTRH policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead safe, effective, and engaging therapeutic and recreational riding lessons.

• Evaluate riders and develop individualized goals and lesson plans based on their abilities and needs.

• Select appropriate horses and ensure they are prepared and suitable for each lesson.

• Supervise and direct volunteers, including side walkers and horse leaders, during lessons.

• Maintain accurate rider documentation, lesson notes, goals, and progress records.

• Follow all CTRH safety procedures, PATH Intl. standards, and risk-management practices.

• Communicate effectively with riders, families, volunteers, and staff.

• Work collaboratively with the CTRH team to support a positive and inclusive program environment.

• Assist with horse conditioning, training, and overall program readiness as needed.

• Ensure horses, equipment, and lesson areas are safe and prepared before each session.
   

Qualifications

• Current PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) certification required.

• Experience teaching individuals with disabilities in a therapeutic riding setting.

• Strong horsemanship and horse-handling skills.

• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to lead and effectively communicate with volunteers during lessons.

• Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

• Commitment to the mission of CTRH and the use of horses to positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities.
